I know that this decisions has still time to take, however, I love cars and have so much fun looking for a possible home on wheels for my time in Canada 😅
So basically the car I will buy must be effortable what means it should not cost more than 3500$, the mileage should be as low as possible and of course it has to be well maintained.
Furthermore it should have enough space for a bed and all the stuff I need during my roadtrip, though I don't want a RV or a truck 😂
I wrote with some backpackers who bought a car in Canada and most of them had something like the Dodge Caravan or the Honda Odyssey.
So here comes a summary of what's good/not good about these minivans:
Dodge Caravan:
Pros
- Stow'n Go System ⇨ lots of space
- is good on gas
- Prices start at 2500$ (acceptable condition)
- Only front-wheel-drive
- I don't like minivans 😅
So here are my Pros and Cons about that one:
Dodge Durango:
Pros
- All-wheel-drive (very good for wintermonths)
- Lots of space if you remove the backseats
- Prices start at 3000$ (acceptable condition)
- I like its shape 😃
- Fewer miles-per-gallon
- No Stow'n Go ⇒ have to remove backseats completely
I don't know which one of these I will buy in the end but like thinking about it already 😋 Of course it is also a question of availability but I definitely tend to the Durango at this moment.
Let's see what the next months bring.
See ya!
Sarah
