The Person behind the Blog

Hello World! πŸ˜„

Since  it is still a long time to go until my roadtrip will actually start I thought there is time for a short introduction of me 😊 So here we go:

My name is Sarah. I am german, grew up in Hamburg and later moved to Bavaria where I lived in WΓΌrzburg and Munich. I am 19 years old and graduate from school this summer.
Taking care for several animals like birds, dogs and rodents is my passion, secondly I love cars and motorcycles 😍 especially the american one like Harley, Chevy and Dodge.
I have travelled alot since I am young, often with my family in my Mom's RV, however, I've never left Europe so far...
I want to study medicine after my roadtrip and maybe move to Canada some day because it is the country of my dreams 😊 but let's see what the future will bring

So maybe now you see why I want do this roadtrip 😁 if you have any further questions feel free to ask πŸ˜‰

See ya!

Caravan or Durango?

Hello World! 😁

I know that this decisions has still time to take, however, I love cars and have so much fun looking for a possible home on wheels for my time in Canada πŸ˜…
So basically the car I will buy must be effortable what means it should not cost more than 3500$, the mileage should be as low as possible and of course it has to be well maintained.
Furthermore it should have enough space for a bed and all the stuff I need during my roadtrip, though I don't want a RV or a truck πŸ˜‚
I wrote with some backpackers who bought a car in Canada and most of them had something like the Dodge Caravan or the Honda Odyssey.
So here comes a summary of what's good/not good about these minivans:

Dodge Caravan:
Pros
  • Stow'n Go System ⇨ lots of space
  • is good on gas
  • Prices start at 2500$ (acceptable condition)
Cons
  • Only front-wheel-drive
  • I don't like minivans πŸ˜…
During my search another Dodge got my attention 😁 The Dodge Durango
So here are my Pros and Cons about that one:

Dodge Durango:
Pros
  • All-wheel-drive (very good for wintermonths)
  • Lots of space if you remove the backseats
  • Prices start at 3000$ (acceptable condition)
  • I like its shape πŸ˜ƒ
Cons
  • Fewer miles-per-gallon
  • No Stow'n Go ⇒ have to remove backseats completely

I don't know which one of these I will buy in the end but like thinking about it already πŸ˜‹ Of course it is also a question of availability but I definitely tend to the Durango  at this moment.
Let's see what the next months bring.

See ya!

The Basic Plan

Hello World! πŸ˜€

Since I didn't really write about what I am planning to do yet, I thought it would be quite logic to do so now because this blog will be all about this πŸ˜…
So here is the basic plan:

I will start in Edmonton this year in December. There I will buy a used car (will write about possible ones later) and build a bed in the rear part of it. This will be my home for the following 6 Months. During the trip I plan to do wwoofing to save a little money. Since I'll start inthe coldest part of the year I will probably head south in the beginning, but where exactly? Well, that's the one million dollar question 😜 I don't know yet and I won't think about that unless I am actually sitting in my car, have fuel in the tank and already on the highway. The only further point I'm sure about is that everything will end where it started: Edmonton.

So if anyone has questions, opinions or advices feel free to message me πŸ˜‰

See ya!

Getting started

Hello World!

wow ... my first post on my first blog 😁
I just want to start telling everyone interested in it what my plans are.
Basically I only have my starting location which will be Edmonton, CA.
Why Edmonton? Well, it is perfect for what I am planning to do, because flights are quite cheap at this moment (still haven't booked one though πŸ˜… ) and cars are effortable there.
Second thing I know so far is when I will start my adventure what will be on 20th/21st December. Until then I hope to have enough money for the car, accommodation for the first week and the most important thing in the world: Food πŸ˜‹
But I am quite optimistic about everything πŸ˜€ I mean what could possibly go wrong?

See ya!
